Actually, cheater_1 was democraticly elected as the god of cheater two months ago. However, you can sign yourself up as a candidate for the next election, which will happen next May.

Democratically electing a god... I don't think Scientology even was ever that crazy.

If I shared such negative beliefs about online chess, I probably wouldn't spend so much time on an online chess site. And yet you do. Go get some sun, cheater.

And who gets angry when playing online chess? I'd like to see a chess.com poll on the matter.

Let's not resurrect dead threads

Chess is chess.  No matter what format you play, you ultimately are working on skills that would not be developing if you were doing neither.

Sheesh.  The more you play, the better you get.  Who cares if it's online or not.  Sounds like you're mad just because you got beat.

you rest your case? i've gotten MUCH better at chess by playing online. your example is not legit because it deals with a highly specific situation. not many people play 1 minute chess games. so yeah, that example is a red herring. i disagree that online chess makes you worse because i'm an example of someone who has benefitted tremendously from online chess. i'm not amazing or anything, but i'm WAY better than i used to be.

while i do disagree with your saying that online chess makes one worse, i do agree that online chess players tend to be more rude and accusing. that is true, but i think it is more due the nature of online play than the people themselves. there are many ways to cheat and stretch the system in online chess that aren't availible in normal chess. people shouldn't cheat or stretch the system (example: constantly asking for draws when someone gets a clear lead). just play chess and be mature enough to take losing a game. not everyone is rude, but some people are. i've ran into a few on this site, but not many.

StacyBearden wrote: That was actually a good post. For a change. Now, seriously, I like your posts. Everybody else is mad - I like your posts. I can see the advantage in playing OTB games rather than internet games. I played a couple games of live chess here and lost on time in them all. I can't play 5 minute games. I have a low rating, yes, but I enjoy analyzing the game and taking my time. I think it's like enjoying the taste of a good meal instead of wolfing down your food like you're in school and have 10 minutes for lunch. I guess just due to my poor rating and playing I have not had anyone scream "cheater" at me, but everyone here has been very, very polite - at least to me. I like chess.com. I think you do, too, Cheater. You're right, in my opinion, about OTB games and internet games. However, I also believe that a great player, I mean a world class player, is going to beat the average guy no matter what the time frame. And those guys are used to playing blitz chess, too.

LIES!!!
