IQ Test

Hello,

I took a free IQ test and my score turned out to be 121. What is the maximum I could get in ELO

Well, first I’d wonder about the accuracy of a free test online. But ignoring that, intelligence doesn’t influence performance in chess, hard work and practice do.

IQ does tell you how effective the hard work and study will be.

Just like anything, some have talent, some don't.  Hard work and talent will beat just hard work.

IQ means nothing. Seriously. I have a high IQ and I can say that. It's not going to help you predict how great of a chess player you could become.

Here's what will:

Sleep

A good social support structure

Diet

Exercise

Whether or not you smoke

Whether or not you offload your short and long term memory tasks to your phone

How often you play chess

How old you are

Your state of mind

No IQ score is going to outweigh any of what I've listed. I don't care if you're Einstein or the bald guy from the movie "Powder."

IQ is correlated to its subtests such as visual-spatial reasoning and working memory, both of which are important for chess.

True but if you don't put any of the work in, you're not going to get better no matter how high of an IQ you have. I'm sure you have a high IQ but you can't tell me that you can get little sleep, have no social life, have poor eating habits, smoke like a chimney, and get very little exercise and still improve at chess. I know everyone wants to boil everything down to a number but it's just not that simple.

Hikaru's IQ is 102. Many different sources confirm this. And you're providing a good example of having a high IQ and not applying it. If many different sources are telling you the same thing, but you're not accepting it, it means you're not interested in what is true, you're interested in answers that make you feel good. You dismissed a comment from another user who also said Hikaru's IQ is 102. Clearly, IQ does not come close to predicting chess potential. If Hikaru's IQ is lower than yours, and he has a higher ELO than you, that means IQ isn't as important as you think.

How about I play you? Unless your IQ isn't high enough and you're scared.

Your puzzles rating is only 700. Lol. You're nothing compared to me.
