I have been playing chess otb since i was 15 and just started playing on chess.com a few months ago. I was just wondering if my elo was alright for my age and experience and also wanted to know if anyone had any tips for improving and getting closer to the 1400 range, thanks.

A 1200 rating in any time control is better than the average here. It is good if you feel good enough to enjoy the games you play. It is not good if you are hoping to become world champion.

If you hope to improve, you should start taking the lessons offered here more regularly.

They offer the tips you are looking for.

Hey tygzc, point taken, I guess instead of trying to compare my skill level to others i should just focus on my own individual progress and go at my own pace.
Thanks,
