I play up to 1500 on 1 minute games.  I started at about 1000 and have played around 35000 games.  It is fun but I still am not good when going against others.  I want to learn how to consistanly beat Anan like Carlson can do.  Is there an easy way to beat these top players without cheating?

Sure it is. Personally I have beaten both Anan and Carlson countless times...

Here is a Carlson: http://www.chess.com/members/view/BennyC023

Maybe it's him Hallesy is talking about.

1500 standard is just god awful ever since they inflated standard ratings for absolutely no reason. it is literally 400 points inflated for no good reason.

But I worked so hard to even reach (and maintain) that!

Im so much better at online chess. I managed to beat a CM onc and three NMs in various time controls. But when playing OTB I must say I perform sapproximately 30% below my online strength...

I have this super power of turning invisible but only when nobody's watching me. (Mystery Men reference, anyone?)

CheckMantis

In standard chess no. keep training.

To be rated 1500 means your a lot better then the average person to be sure

KirbyCake

on standard, actually no.

recently they inflated standard ratings by 400 points by literally giving people free points. 1500 is basically 1100 in terms of blitz or other modes, making it worse than average.

lutak22

uh... 400 points?! funny I got 150.. regardless I said average person not average chess fanatic so I would say yes even I beat the average person

I think its online, so its whatever. I love using the databases, its really the only reason i pay. I have a Chess club I go to and I advise you do the same. Get out and meet the community. You'll know where you stand after a couple visits. Enjoy "cheating"

yureesystem

Average level, can't be that bad.

Lol not even cheating would help!  How did Boris Ivanov cheat?  iPhone in the shoe.  Such tactics would fail to Anand and Carlsen whose world class chess abilities outclass any cellphone, even if the tournament directors agreed to allow it.

That is weak, in chess club or over the board rating is roughly about 1500 uscf: I sure it is the same for FIDE.
