Is Auto-vacation for paid users unfair?

I have been put on auto vacation a couple of times when I was down to a couple of hours to move. I don't believe it's any huge advantage. I usually play "No Vacation" tournaments and rarely time out. I wouldn't be heartbroken if "vacation" was scrapped altogether.

I don't think anyone has pointed out that vacation applies to ALL your games. You can't just stall 90 days on the one game you're losing because you're a poor sport, you're completely cut off from ALL your games until you 'return' from vacation.  And when you do, it doesn't give you and additional 3 days (or whatever) per game, you still only have the 30 minutes left (or whatever) that you did when the auto-vacation feature kicked in.

As a former premium member, auto-vacation saved me from several losses after my car accident.  It was a nice perk, but I won't give this site any more money... so I'll take my chances without it.

I'm not sure it's that big a deal. From what I understand paying members and those who don't pay accrue vacation time at the same rate. The only difference is that paying members have a higher cap. Even non-paying members get up to 30 days of vacation. Except for the super rich members of this site who go on 6 month safaris or year long cruises, I'm not sure when someone would go on a vacation for more than 30 days.

I have like five prosthetic bodies and faces that I bought for just under $10 Billion for my job with underground operations.

Oh crap, I shouldn't have said anything now Goldendog from Section 9 will come to silence me.

I have been a premium member for three years now, and each year I have subscribed, in case I wouldn't able to get to a computer in time; my games would be placed on vacation for me automatically.  Maybe once, or twice it happened that I couldn't reach my computer on time to select vacation.  Today, even though I may have 2-3 days left of time available for a move, I select vacation and not wait for the clock to reduce to automatic vacation because it's the responsible and courteous thing to do for the opponent.  Each year I lose vacation time, due to a selected maximum allowed per membership maximum.

I agree that people who abuse their vacation because they are too lazy to select vacation is irresponsible.  In contrast, though, if you have been playing chess here for 2-3 years without membership, and you wish to show a complaint about this vacation issue...just remember you have invested no monetary value to this site from your satisfaction in chess.com, and honestly you really don't have much say in how things should go at chess.com.  A premium member has more weight than you, because premium members allow you to play here for free.  Don't look at a gift horse in the mouth.
