Is Blitz Chess detrimental to Classical and Rapid Chess improvement..?!

Played blitz more seriously for about 2 years now, while I used to play rapid here exclusively. Now I got my ratings to finally coincide. However... I feel my patience and concentration for longer games has taken a negative hit. Being a longtime otb tournament player, I used to always have great patience, and took pride in my slow play. Therefore, I believe blitz (especially bullet) has a negative effect on our longer game playing abilities.

What do you guys think?

Oh, boy. Here we go again. Yes. Your experience and conclusion are both correct. Blitz is a fun thing we casual players and even GMs do to enjoy some informal chess socializing. But no serious titled player uses blitz as a “Training” tool for classical. It just conditions you to move quickly without looking deeply into a position. In fact, as you stated, it generates impatience and makes you not WANT to calculate all relevant lines when in longer time controls. If you MUST play faster controls, rapid is a better choice than blitz. But longer time controls are better for improving your playing strength.

Yes, I was introduced to Blitz and even worse bullet when I was still a beginner, and sadly I am just now beginning to break the habit of being insatiably impatient, as if I’m always rushing to finish the game, even in complex position that require proper care.
