Is cheating in puzzles bannable?

Yes, it's bannable if you cheat on puzzles. But what is the point of cheating on puzzles? It's for you to learn and you really don't gain anything or much from it.

Puzzle rush and Rated tactics

--The below are NOT ALLOWED--

  • Engines You may not use any engines to help solve tactics! This includes Chessmaster, Fritz, Komodo, Houdini, Stockfish, Chessbase with any active UCI engine, etc.
  • Tablebases - Tablebases are chess databases that contain every possible move for endgames of up to 7 pieces. These will always lead to a win when a win is possible, and are for that reason the same as asking an engine to analyse a position. Tablebases are not allowed!
  • Help from other people - You may not to ask for help from another person! Do not ask anyone for advice on your tactics! Do not let anyone else play on your account!
  • Books, opening databases, or any outside help at all! - For puzzle rush and rated tactics, on Chess.com, if you are looking at anything other than the game in front of you, you shouldn’t be! Focus on your game, and play with your own mind and strength!

alr thx (still kinda sus about the people rated 60k+ in puzzles

I think there's a way to memorize the highest rated puzzles and just grind.

That's what I did, just memorize all the endgames they are a lot more easy to remember

Me personally, I have a low puzzle rating but when I see people with ratings of 60k+ I'm wondering if people are using engines in puzzles and if so, is it bannable?

It's not that they are cheating. It's just that they have practiced so many times that they have memorised almost every pattern for the puzzles.

They are cheating. This is currently the leader in puzzles:

Just scroll through the account, I personally don't mind because I think cheating in puzzles or against bots doesn't harm anybody.

I wonder how people get scores of 200+ on survival when I have watched hikaru get 100 as a record. He's literally the 2nd best player in the world. What gives?

It's either pure memorisation or just cheating.

How would cheating on puzzles even be detectable? It's either a right or wrong answer, unlike a game where you can analyze how many moves match computer suggestions or weird playing styles..etc. In some puzzles it's conceivable to get them right out of luck, you don't know the first move so you guess and it turns out to be the right one and then the rest of the moves follow naturally (usually even the hard ones you can narrow down to 3-5 move choices). Unless they are solving 95% of them correctly reaching a rating over 10,000 and never taking more than a minute to solve them I don't see how.

Almost every puzzle is solved in perfect time. Some puzzels with 6 to 8 moves are solved below 10 seconds. So cheating in puzzels is not punished by chess.com?

It's super lame. Why would one "cheat" on a puzzle, when if you want, you can have it reveal the answer?

I mean there's no victim when you think about it, puzzles are just for your own benefit so it's your loss lol

Gotta be engines that they are cheating with. There’s been world placed GMs who’ve been doomed by online players using swordfish engines
