In Golf, your whole body is being used, so yes it is physical.  Have you ever walked 18 and on average swing the club 4 times a hole?   you will get tired if you're not use to it.

I bet racing in a caddy across the gold court makes for a good "sport" too, since steering the wheel is honing the physical activity, so yeah lmao.

I said walking.   you've never swung a golf club have you?  What the body needs to do to make a perfect connection from club to ball is crazy.  all the mechanics involved, physical mechanics AND the mental part as well.

Just because there is not as much sweat involved does not mean it's not a physical sport.

Yes, it is a sport called racing.  Racing a car requires COMPLETE physical mastery of MANY different sorts of bodily activities.

Chess is a game.

There is no racing of caddies in golf, unless somehow you are referring to the participants racing their Cadillacs to get to the golf course. A caddy is a person, not a thing. Even though golf is physical, as brought to attention by Tiger Woods and others with their extreme workouts to be the best, the old saying still holds true. It's 90% mental.

agree.  90% mental to be able to do all what's needed physically.  Cool

Avatar of WrongLettuce

It is but not a physical sport e.g. darts, snooker e.t.c

I've heard that saying for a long time and I personally believe it's more like 95 or 98%. But I agree it's all about getting the body to do the physical task. I would imagine bowling, darts, maybe even auto racing are probably similar.

AHH man!!  I thought I made that up!

formula1 racing is mostly mental, you have all the engineers designing the car, race strategy by the team, which girls to hold the umbrellas in tight shorts, then all you need is a madman to exceed the speed limit using fingers and toes.

While I can understand why someone would be passionate about sustaining something is a sport, I can hardly relate to why and how the same amount of passion would be thrown into claiming "no it's not". I mean, what do there is to gain in any way if any win was possible as such?

Avatar of MEXIMARTINI

that's true.  I guess basically chalk it up as a harmless debate?

Avatar of icanhazrevolushun

a harmless debate? when an argument is to be won and riches and glory bestowed on the victor ?

Avatar of MEXIMARTINI

BAHAHAHAHAAHA!!  The riches as in a chess trophy?  well damn...it's back on!!

I'll say gaming is purely physical as well as skillful!  To reach over and grab that soda (there is your crunches) and guiding it to your mouth for a sip? All the while making your kill shot?!    Or getting up from the chair screaming at your t.v. (there is your squat) ...  yup purely physical "sport"

Avatar of Pashak1989

Wow, people who say that Golf or darts is actually a hard physical activity would literally die after doing 5 minutes of a real sport.

How can u win an argument? Either it's fact based arguing, then you've got an argument or not (like 98% of the answers here)

Chess was never a sport and never will be. Only those nerds with glasses wish they would do some sport, instead of hiding in the dark under a disguise and moving wooden pieces around, hoping no one is seeing them, looking pale, no muscles and playing the boss on chess.com. Yeah, I do sports every day, I play chess. Yeah baby, sure!

Avatar of Pashak1989

What are you talking about???

I once met in the Gym a very ripped dude who sometimes played chess on the Internet. He was really muscular. It is the ultimate proof that chess is a sport and make you very strong!

for the record..I never said "hard" but both sports do require some physical activity.

darts, not as much, however, you throw that dart the correct way, when never throwing a dart correct before and you will feel the strain.

Pash, you're talking to a guy who has played sports his whole life.  I have felt the pain and anguish on a physical sport.  Some just aren't as physical, yet still a sport.
