Is chess all about winning?

One of my friends said that chess is all about winning and that's what made Bobby Fischer so great because he wanted to win at all costs. I told him that he takes chess to seriously and that he should focus on having fun, but he says that nothing is more fun than winning. Then I have another friend who says that chess is all about learning. And that the more you learn about chess the more beautiful it will seem to you, and that's a great feeling to go into your own world of chess. I think that's how Mikhail Tal used to play and he is one of my favorite players; I love his style so much.

For some it is, and it used to be for me.  I used to think that he most important things were my rating, prizes, trophies, etc.  Now i play for fun.  Dont really care about the rating, how i do in tournaments, or what i win.

Chess is big enough to accomodate players of all types.  Win-at-all-costers.  Casual funsters.  Beauty appreciaters.  Come join the party.
