No...chess has a big part of my life for many decades. But i realized I didnt miss it during the pandemic. I missed the people, and playing for the fun of it. But as far as tournaments, studying, students, and all the serious stuff? Dont miss it.
So since I'm going to be 84 in December I should quit chess right now ? . . .
You should check my profile before you answer . . .

It's always the people we miss, not the places or things... something you realize when you're older.

So it’s not chess as such that you lost fascination with but rather the tedious stuff that helps you get better at it?.. I’ve only just rediscovered chess, everything about it excites me. It’d be really sad to lose this feeling.
Speaking of old guys...I am 81 and just started playing chess a couple of years ago with a friend. Don't have any interest in playing competitively but I want to play better than I do now, be nice to beat my friend once in a while, think I need a few basic lessons. Anyone recommend a patient instructor?

I plan on going to Reno in October. Not to play, but to see people, old friends, and I just enjoy watching games at that tournament.

I notice, as usual, no one my age posts here.
What is your age, if you don’t mind me asking?

This is why I feel alone... not because I'm 90 (that was a horrible guess by the way, given the information in the topic) but because I have no one to talk to here.

You should always practice you hobbies in a way such that you want to do them again.
I could think up some pretty... let's say controversial hobbies that'd make you rethink that.
Do tell!
