yes this has happened to me as well I figured it out that  you need to click offer draw although I didnt know it worked. Hey mashanator

do you know this purpose?? I mean why they didnt make it automatic..

LoveYouSoMuch

claim it by clicking "draw" as per fide rules and gg

Fevly_P

thx for response brotha and sistha , but why do we have to claim its not even OTB lol, ok.. next time i'll claim it (like claim an assurance).. XD

MrTweety01

And how do I claim a draw? I lost my last game because a threefold repetition  wasn't recognized by the software. I also lost a game because I had less time than my opponent, and he had no way to win (king + h-pawn vs king), but he refused a draw. What can I do?

MrTweety01   You mention your opponent had no way to win.  Did he have the possibility to win on time?

MrTweety01

Yes. But it isn't against the rules, I know. It is just lame if you want to win this way.

But how about the first case?

Fevly_P

@MrTweety01, u probably had to make some repetions as fast as possible coz your opponent had a chance to win on time , but after making some repetions u probably will fall into my case too ..(where there is no enough time to claim a draw) , Laughing claiming a draw should be automatic done by this site (i expected..)

* i know it's still not fair..anyway

MrTweety01

I tried to figure out how I could report this to the administrator of this site, but I don't know how to do that. I think I should forget the game and remember the name of the opponent, so that I don't play another game against him.

"what a game" = expression sentence , it's NOT a question..!!

yah, i would also personally prefer the site to claim the draw automatically. anyway, one thing you can do to avoid pure time scrambles is to play games with increment.

Guys and Galls

The rules of chess are quite simple. Threefold repetition and 50move rule may be claimed...they are not automatic. So this site is correct in the way it implements them.

Time control is as much a part of chess as any other rule. if you run out and lose it is your fault, not your opponents. Accept the loss with good grace and move on.

MrTweety01

If I cannot win a game the "normal" way , I offer my opponent a draw. I don't want to win a game this way. I certainly want to win, but I don't want my opponent to lose because he runs out of time.

Then I suggest you play games with a lengthy time control, or just play casual chess with your friends. Don't play on here with a time control and expect others to play by your rules.

i thought we're talking about why this site doesn't implement automatic draw, we're not talking about time control (fast or long games). as other said that it can be claimed by clicking the "draw"

Mr Tweety introduced the time control question to this thread, and I responded to that.
