So you see , Dharmann
some people have diffrent opinion and the reason we make opinions is to find the best solution in every problem we have.Thats why we cannot be mad like a dogwater dude at people opinions, except for a few ones
Fischer Random is kind of like a Duplicate Contract Bridge tournament. I like it, but boy does it show how important Opening knowledge is in Chess as we normally know it. I feel lost often when playing it. Opening principles fly out the window!
One thing I hate about it is, remembering which squares the King and Rooks start on for each game, to know if Castling to one side or the other, is legal. Sure, playing online will not let you Castle illegally. However, what if in your analysis, it is critical to be able to Castle, but you don't realize that you cannot?
I came up with a variant I call Five Knights Chess. White begins with Three Knights and a Bishop, while Black has the normal Two and Two. The other pieces are set up in their usual positions, the extra Knight for White being put on the square of one of the Bishops. Castling is normal and familiar. Opening principles are probably undisturbed. The setup is not quite as symmetrical as usual. White gives up a slight bit of material to counter the advantage of the first move.
