They may call Mozart or even moreso Beethoven a mental stimulant.

But also they can be classified as a soul stimulant.

Is it ethically wrong to listen to music while playing chess? It's a pretty stupid question but I'm gonna ask anyway.

Yeah. Music might include the best engine lines for every single possible position in the game of chess (hard ch)

Only if it's 'One Night in Bankok' by Murray Head.

Hikaru streams with that horrible music in the background, he even seems to like it. Should have been banned long ago (both).

Go back to real life. Real real life.

I'm not talking recorded music on head phones.

Real real life.

Chess, face to face.

How would one listen to music in real life?

A couple of instrumentalists play music while you play?

Has that ever happened in real life?

When in doubt, go back to real real life. No electricity real life.

Chess is the music.

There is a pace and a rhythm that the players have.

Boxing and MMA too. Good fighters tune in to the rhythm of their opponent.

Tennis and ping-pong too.

Real chess. Not speed chess. At least 60 minutes live, face to face.

i sure do enjoy my opponent stalling for 30 minutes

In a real game, once, the position was so complicated. All the mouse traps were loaded. My opponent took 50 minutes to make a move. And after that I took 50 minutes to make the next move.

That was real chess.

ok

what i consider "stalling" is relative to my experience and the situation, i get it.

In a fight, you want to listen to the rhythm of the fight, and not the "soundtrack" in your head. I guess that goes for life too.

Not at tournaments, pretty sure the opponent isn’t allowed to stall.
