Is it just me or is the chess.com application bad for playing 1 minute bullet?

My phone is pretty fast.   Samsung S20+..... Like, I am premoving and playing as fast as I can........YET, at the end often my opponent has like 14 seconds more!  It is crazy, I don't get it.

I thought using your finger on a touch screen was considerably faster than a mouse.

So you think it is easy to play 1 minute bullet on the phone app?  No problems?

I do see that you are only 680 in bullet with 200+ games......No offense, but bullet at that level...isn't really bullet.  680 is a decent rating tho, and you should be proud of it.

Depends on the position tbh. I pretty much play bullet exclusively on my iphone and it’s alright, however, there are some positions on the app where the inability to stack premoves as you can on a PC is a serious disadvantage - when that happens you just have to accept it. Having played upwards of 60,000 games on here, I know that my average rating will be more or less the same whatever device I use.

1 min is fine. My biggest problem is touchpad won't move properly when my fingers are sweaty or sticky, and I make mouseslips.

1 min on phone is fine, though I barely play bullet on my phone.

it’s not just you. i noticed a significant and persistent deterioration in my rating for 1-0 when i “upgraded” from an iPhone 7S to the 11 XR. the iphone 11 XR loses about 10 seconds per game and i consistently lose on time when in a stronger position playing just as fast, or faster than my opponent.

This was my introduction to the changes in Apple processors. No Bueno.

It's so triggering. I have 25k bullet games on this site. I vary massively in performance based upon the app underperforming. I've complained to the developers and they've suggested deleting and re-downloading the app, which I've done repeatedly. It does help a bit. My rating varies wildly from 1400-1800 in 1-0. It's all I really enjoy playing and I only like playing on a phone. I wish there was a better option. The developers said a wired connection is better FWIW.

I am LightningGoz and I've played 1-0 almost every day for fifteen years on many different devices. what @savage919 is referring to seems to be something that i've been observing since switching between an iPhone XR and a smaller iPhone 13 Pro. the device makes a difference. and forgetabout playing 1-0 on a PC. there are so many things to consider when doing that.

here's my list of all the things that will affect your 1-0 game:

  • size of the surface you're moving pieces across
  • wifi vs g5 connection
  • whether or not you like the music playing in the background
  • faster music that you already know the words to will INCREASE your wins
  • the processor in your phone (iPhone XR is worse than iPhone 13 BUT both are better than Samsung A20.)
  • time of day that you're playing
  • whether laying down or sitting up or standing

I've noticed a slight move-delay on the phone app. Maybe 0.5 second delay, per move ... which adds up very quickly, in bullet.

This is likely why you won't see top bullet players playing on their phone. Most of them use a gaming mouse and a desktop PC ...

comparing iPhone 13 Pro to PC right now.

just made 31 moves to win on time in 30 seconds  on the PC.

havent been able to replicate that on the iPhone yet (having lost my most competitive match this hour in 45 moves)

Dumb question: how do you do pre-moves (with laptop)?  Is it obvious once you get in?  I've never looked. Maybe others need this info too.

you need to enable it in settings.

Playing on PC, I am in a new location where my internet connection is okay, but not blazing as it was before... this has made a huge difference in the performance of Bullet games.   Sometimes pre-moves dock me 3 seconds, which never happened before.   On a suggestion here, I tried another site (lich...) and had absolutely no lagging issues with speed or premoves, everything was snappy and I was back to playing and not losing to timeout.    It seems Chess.com needs a solid fast connection in order to work properly.
