No.

Below the titled ranks, opening study in particular is way over-rated. Instead of trying to memorize opening lines, if people spent half that much time working on basic principles, looking at old (pre-1950) master games, and PLAYING THE FREAKING GAME they would probably improve twice as fast.

 You should start by memorizing as many opening lines as possible from what I hear.
