is it possible for me to become a GM in 5 years???

I've killed more than 1000 enderdragon in my minecraft career

I believe a more realistic goal of 15+ years would make it possible if you devote all your free time to chess.

@GrandMasterNoob21? your username contradicts. It is impossible to be both a grandmaster and a noob at the same time. (well, compared to computers even grandmasters are noobs)

8 years it took Magnus to become GM. But training like that requires serious dedication and focus. Based on your talk about Enderdragon and Minecraft, you won't even make 2000.

Yes.  Absolutely.  Know body knows what’s inside you but you.  If you put the time in, it’s possible.  With all the content these days available to consume and learn from it’s more doable these days then it’s ever been before.  If your the kind of person that tends to kick butt on anything you do, you’re driven, disciplined, and work hard and don’t stop tell you achieve your goals, it can be done. I’m not a chess master but someone who has kicked some serious butt in life and know what it takes to achieve what others say you can’t.  Don’t let anybody define your capabilities.  Because we can’t do, we want to tell everybody else they can’t.  Mediocre people will always be scared of someone who wants to achieve something difficult.  It makes the rest of us feel bad about ourselves.   Bottom line, only you can answer that question.  

Oh, of course. You can also become the world's greatest lover and the richest man on earth too. Why limit yourself to chess?

I agree - Anything like this is really possible if you try hard enough.  I went from not knowing chess to where I am now in about 1-2 years.  (It's possible.)
