Is it possible to get to 2000 from 1500 in just a year or less?

It's a lot easier to go from 2000 to 1500 instead.

Just saying.

Not at all! Only a subset of people can get to the start point!

Yes, they sell tonics for this type of thing (grin). But yeah, with blitz, especially online, it can be done. Learn a lot of traps. A lot of openings. A lot of tactics. You'll be rising like dough in the oven. Good luck.

**Note

These don't have to be expert traps. Meet some good blitz players out there and they'll be willing to trade some secrets -- traps solid enough to earn you a win with blitz controls.

You see blitz is an entirely different game. You sitting there with -- what? -- 2 minutes? 5 minutes?

No matter how good you are you're always going to lose to a book expert based on time alone. You need to develop expertise in the opening system first. All the traps are based on that. The traps themselves seep into the midgame and endgame. The tactics are there to hold you through the winter if you didn't catch none.

You remember that - "based on time alone."

That is precisely why I do not use traps. My goal is to play normal chess but faster. That is, blitz. I have an ideology that if I can think "this much" in blitz, I can probably think better in longer time controls. And yes, in blitz, players always bank in on each other's mistakes to win which is totally different from longer time controls where you need to find the best moves to win. I understand, longer time controls are better for overall improvement. However, I find blitz the easiest for me to learn and improve since it is mostly about pattern recognition. I simply don't have the quality time to play long games online. But rather, I play long OTB games in my school's chess club.

Your ideology is flawed.

Did you walk before you could crawl?

Did you even try eating a tin of dog food? I'm beginning to think you're actually not that serious about chess improvement.

Yes.

I walked to the tavern, and later crawled home.

This marks me as a natural-born chess player!

If it is possible, can someone kindly schedule or type out a training plan in order to achieve a rating that high?

Magnus Carlsen went from 904 to 1907 in a year, after June 2000, so it´s possible. Over that year, he studied chess three to four hours a day, and his coach was Torbjörn Hansen.

It's possible if you have natural talent. But i doubt it because if that was the case you won't be asking this question.

Do you know how many games he played when he got 904 rating?

Many FIDE rating are under rated cos many people cant afford to pay the fees/ free time for the tournments (also limited events in a year).

This guy also gained nearly 500 elo in a 4 months, simple because he cant afford to play rated games before.

And also, I am "0" fide rated, If I play Fide rated games, I will gain "0" to "1500-1600" in 3 months.

There are a lot of trolls here. Good for nothing. At least help the man or just be quiet and do something else with your time.

Hey OP, if you want to get better at chess, first step is stop asking and talking at the forums. It's toxic in here...sooo toxic that I come here once in a year or something like that. I just happened to pass by today. Consider yourself lucky.

The more you ask people on how to get better, the more negativity you receive from them. They haven't done it, so they think you can't do it either. So much negativity in here.

If you want to get better, then just do it. No need to tell anyone about it. The more you talk to people, the more people try to bring you down.

Okay, I will give you something tangible. Start reading chess books. Books are the path to becoming better. Take out a board and play the moves present in the book on the chess board and analyze. Then read the annotations and comments by the author.

Play some correspondence games along with it to apply what you have learnt. And play a few blitz and bullet games every few weeks for the application and testing of your ideas.

"The only thing standing between you and your goals is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can't do it". Now go out there and get it. GOOOO!

"Believe yourself and try it", the worst thing that I was taught in my young life.

Why? Because it is impractical. More practical things mostly happen in real life, dont expect 1 in million things.

With the same logic, believe yourself and try it!!Good Luck.

"Most people dont become a millionarie in a year!!

Dont believe them cos they havent done it, "

I don't know... i'm trying now. If i achieve 2000 by the end of the year, i'll know that it is possible. Then i can tell you what i did.

Nausea, your training schedule for chess training is unrealistic for chess player trying to get from 1500-2000. Who eats two raw eggs??? GROSS!
