These days, you never know......
Is it true that Chess increases Depression?
I think it depends on whether that chess play is coupled with social interaction. A lack of social cohesion is said to result in depression, though it isn't conclusive.
woodshover is gone ?
Banned yesterday after a fit of pique.
I've just been informed (by woodshover with a new account) that she closed her own account. Ten Brownie Points (TM)* for the first to deduce the new account from the posting style.

well, as long as you don't think the various chess pieces are talking to you; then you are okey. Just thinking outloud here.

I'm pretty sure manavendra thinks they talk to each other. Just typing some letters here.

Yes, the pieces do talk in Chess. What did the King said to the pawn?
“Every Pawn is a potential Queen”

So, in manavendra's doll house called chess, manavendra being some sort of diety; bored, depressed, and overseeing the various concubines that are sadly unaware of their place in manavendra's kingdom. Manavendra promises them riches, and position in the doll house by saying they could be Queens of the "doll house". Yet manavendra does not disclose to these ladies in waiting, that "winning" a game of chess may have to occur for their fortunes to be realized. Alas, manavendra resigns from overseer of the doll house, due to being merely artificially intelligent...
“Weak points or holes in the opponent's position must be occupied by pieces not Pawns"
“The older I grow, the more I value Pawns”
Those who say they understand Chess, understand nothing. For surely, of all the drugs in the world, chess must be the most permanently pleasurable.

Hydroponic bud ain't too bad either.
Ah, but if you do what you like you will only attract those who are compatible! If you hide your likes (ie try to hide playing chess to get the girls or worse, not play chess even though you love it, again to 'get the girls') you might get a girl who you are not compatible with. THAT will lead to depression!
For most guys, a girl is "compatible" if she has the right equipment, that's all.
I am a feminist, who happens to be a man, and I think that Germaine Greer would agree with me that compatabilty does not consist in only a woman having ' the right equipment'. Speaking personally, and I may be wrong, I require my compatible woman to be assertive, trustworthy and not expect that I am in the relationship solely to look after her wishes and desires. I have human rights too, and if I respect her human rights, I expect her to do as she is done by. I expect her to work on the relationship with me, not expect me to chase her, rush her off her feet and conquer her. Queens like these are thin on the ground.
I'm not a "feminist", but I am a woman. If people think and drink and are nice on the eyes, what more could you want?

pawn44680, I think u'll find BorgQueen is a bloke - not many Aussie Sheilas called Brad !!
