Is MVL on a decline? :(

I was speaking about Radjabov above. MVL hasn't won champions tour. He's been playing badly actually on the tour.
Radjabov recently (I think ~2 years ago) got married to the daughter of an billionaire executive owning one of the major energy infrastructure companies in Azerbaijan. I think apart from being unmotivated, he has been lacking focus on chess for a long time.
Radjabov got married ten years ago, but he has indeed seemed uninterested for a long time. It’s been many years since he didn’t just go for the draw quickly in classical games. If you look for his round robin results the last 7-8 years there are many that look like the current event.
MVL was 0.5 from first in the Candidates that finished a couple of months ago but did worse in some less important events, also Caruana seems to have suffered a bit lately. They will soon be back at their best again.

every person has bad periods. Magnus has had it in the last couple years as well.
It's just much more pronounced at the highest levels because if a top player is having a rough time all the other players take full advantage of it in the most efficient way possible, and they are very consistent in doing so.
So as casuals we perceive this as a greater problem than it actually is.
Well said.
