Hardware: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2160 @ 1.80GHz 1800 MHz with 3.0 GB Memory
Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (Build 2600) 32 bit

i mean good for engine testing ?

 

NOTE: I allow max power for engine testing like disable the themes and stuff

It seems like a usable system, but then its often not so much about how much hardware but how much you allow Windows to choke the hardware with junk.

The CPU is rather weak for engine usage. The RAM is just about enough.

It is 2-core, without hyperthreading (which would make the cores 4, two physical and two virtual).

You cannot use x64 engines on a 32-bit OS.

Houdini 1.5 (free), the 32-bit version.

If you find your computer choking heavily with that (because Houdini does stress the CPU a lot) then Stockfish 2.2.2 (again the 32-bit version) would be the most indicated choice. And the re is also Critter 1.4 - it's between Houdini and Stockfish, both strength- and resources- wise, and it has a very interesting playing style (almost human, I would dare to say).
