Playing slow games also improves faster games. Just play slow games with your best efforts and you will improve without noticing. It may need some time (a few months or 1-2 year) but it will reach average rating painlessly :)

But to improve you should treat every game seriously. Dont play fast, dont play without thinking, if you dont understand something ask others after the game.
