no rh2 is not a checkmate. for two reasons 1) the king has multiple escape squares. 2) most importantly, the rook on h2 is not defended. the white king can take and probably exchange a set of rooks. But black is probably still winning because he is up a rook. personally, I would look for a different move. Either, one that supports the attack, or helps protect your king from check.
Is Rh2 a checkmate?

Thank you so much. I don't know how, but I managed to win this game. I win a game every now and then, but now I am desperately trying to understand how I do it. It's so frustrating. I am thinking of paying "Diamond" plan, but I don't know if I am ready for puzzles, analyses and so on. I watched so many videos and read so many articles that I don't know what to do next.
Thank you a lot.

I'm glad you won the game. I looked at some of your games. you are playing good chess. But you need to work on your tactics. you had multiple opportunities throughout your different games to win pieces for free. Another thing is looking at how depending on who's move it is affects the outcome of the exchange. As you aquire more knowledge about chess you will deal with the " not knowing what to do". your brain has to process and store each new piece of information before it can apply it. keep playing, keep studying, and if you have a question that you don't know the answers to, ask someone higher rated

If I move my rook to h2, is it a checkmate?
Serious question: do you know what checkmate is? My guess is that you have a vague feeling about it, but you don't know.

You are probably not aware that Rh2+ is the best move. Ironically, it does both things that you want some other move to do ("supports the attack, or helps protect your king from check").

Quite vague, indeed. Sometimes I checkmate and I even can't figure out what I did. There probably isn't a more novice than me on the whole platform. Probably I should stop asking this kind of questions.

When I review my game afterwards I always say to myself, "How did I not see that?". This game is burning hell. But I like the way my brain feels. It's nice . Thank you once again and I apologize for my silly questions.

#8, your questions are not silly. they are an exploration of concepts and ideas which is the basis of chess.

#6, Rh2+ is a good move. and yes, it does support the attack and protect the king from check. after the rook exchange whites Be2+ does not exist anymore. Black simplifys the position being up material. quality chess. I thought black had Rd8-a8 but after the black king gets pushed back to f8 white can defend. you are correct.
Good evening,

As you can see I am absolute beginner. This is the situation, it's my move. I am playing with the black pieces. If I move my rook to h2, is it a checkmate? I know, perhaps my question is stupendously hilarious. But I am barely 200 points. So... Thank you so much.
Your humble friend,
Kris
