Is the chess.com rating accurate ?
Playing often, and a variety of opponents, will make your chess.com rating accurate.
There's no direct formula to convert chess.com rating to any other rating. A few times in the past, users would poll others to get an approximation.
Many things have changed over the years (such as rating bumps given by chess.com to all users), so when you search for these try to find the most recent e.g.

Usually your blitz is 100 or a few 100 lower than what your USCF would be. Standard (now called rapid) and certainly the turned based chess (now called daily) is usually 100 or a few 100 higher than what your USCF would be.
That said, some people are especially good (or especially bad) at certain time controls. If this describes you, then it will obviously make the estimate based on polling inaccurate.

Just going by averages I've seen, it seems even now you would be over 1200 USCF. I agree that in the past you might have been closer to 1500-1600.

The only way to tell is to get a master to look at the games you've played on Rapid. I don't think blitz is an accurate indicator of your ELO strength as a lot of times if you play only blitz like me you have a tendency to make lousy moves because they move too fast and don't give a long think when they should. Part of the game in OTB tournament chess is the time controls. If you are not used to playing a 2 hour games you will often simply play too fast and make dumb moves when you should have thought about it. So that is why I believe blitz rating is not an accurate indicator of playing strength on OTB tournament chess. I am left to assume that the OP has never played a 2 hour game in his life, as I do not believe he has ever played in any tournament, so, his blitz rating on chess.com should not be used as a factor to determine his ELO strength. If I where to guess, your ELO strength would be like around 900-1000, but I bet a master would be a better judge. I havn't even looked at your games, so I am just guessing based on the fact that my Rapid is close to 1600, and I have been told that my ELO is probably around 1200. (Perhaps less than that now...) His being around 1300, also factoring in his low blitz rating, I would say that it would take him a long time to calculate variables over the board in a 2 hour game, thus, might cause him to run into time trouble, and thus this I believe would lower his score from the projected 1000-1100, being about 300 points lower than me, to about 900-1000. That is my guess ... I'm sure you could find a coach here that will tell you your strength by looking at some of your games along with giving you some advice on how to improve with a good 20 bucks. Have a nice day!

Based on your move choices, our estimate of your Elo rating is 1927, with a 95% confidence interval of[1802...2052]. is what I got from the first link for the chess test. http://www.elometer.net/

i wonder how accurate these ratings of ELO are of your rating considering yourself said "I think at my best I am closer to a 1500 or maybe 1600 at best" in an earleir post!
even your tacitics rating is at a pass of only 52% correct so maybe your rating above is 'over-rated' - yes?

The thing about my rating is partly unknown because of not being active for nearly 5 years. I use to play and study and have just started trying to get my chess mind back lately.. over the last 2 weeks or so. The main issue for me is having some measurable way to see if I am getting better.. right now according to my rating I am not..lol

I will say this again in case I have not. I wanted to make sure I could think straight and play better before I go challenging a real life aquaintence.. he likes to bet.. I have to win or I have to not play untill I have the confidence that I need which means I have to know I am at my best ever. I am far from my best right now. My mind does not think the same as it use to. I can't seem to calculate as well.. and I have forgotten some things. I intend to remedy all of it if possible... but I did make a few bad habits and stoped playing mostly for about 5 years. It will take some time to regain and improve.

This thing guesses too high (and actually playing games is a better estimate anyway).

Link 2 was shorter but more difficult. BTW.. I hate both boards on the tests.. just terrible.. but anyway.. link 2.. test was

I did not try as hard on test 2. The insrtuctions said to only think for up to 5 minutes and said not to think about combinations.. which is strange.

The best thing in such case is not trying to compare online rating with official ratings as no one plays online with real time control and seriousness I guess.

In a real game you don't know whether there is an obviously good or spectacular move to play. Sometimes it's just a boring normal looking move. So in a real game you might play these positions after less than even 1 minute thought, and without looking for any sacrifices.
However, knowing it is a test, you'll be much more willing to calculate wild sacrifices and even guess answers that look tactical without actually calculating a justification (which you'd never do in a game).
Anyway, about half of those 10 weren't tactical, so it might be good advice in that regard too.

In a " REAL GAME".. I would be playing on a real board and be taking up to 10 or 15 minutes on the really important moves. Yes , In some positions I would probably play faster moves.. but I recall taking longer to find the best move when I played more seriously over the board. My first teaching tool was me playing against a Kasparov 2150 and getting beat on the lowest level about 20 years ago. I learned right away that making moves without thinking loses. Playing blitz is fine for some who know all the lines or calculate really fast. My mind does not work that fast. One of the things I have always loved about chess is finding the move I did not see after thinking a few minutes. On the other hand I hate when I over think things.Right now , I just hope to get my mind working better and my habits reformed and right.
Even in a 5 hour tournament game, you'll have about 2.5 hours for 50 moves lets say. That's an average of 3 minutes a move. You literally can't think for 10 minutes on every position. Some positions guaranteed you'll play quickly. The test is urging takers to pretend it's not a test, and treat the positions as they would in a game.
...
That said, I'm sure no one follows that advice (although many may have given themselves the 5 minute limit).
Anyway that test is really old. I remember taking it about 10 years ago, and it overrated me then too. Just FYI.
The only "error" (although I don't know whether it was intended or not) is that #9 awards more points for the losing move Bxh6 than it does for a reasonable move like Rxb7. The engine's #1 pick it completely ignores, and awards no points.

Go and play real tournament....age level...state championship...fide...world championship...then you will know where is your standard...dont be dreamers
How accurate is a chess.com rating compared with a USCF rating or a FIDE rating. I kind of have a idea that a chess.com rating is not as valid of a rating as a USCF rating. I wonder sometimes if in USCF I would even be a 1200. Right now my best may as well be my worste. 5 years ago I had a turned based rating of over 1800 and a live rating of over 1700. I think at my best I am closer to a 1500 or maybe 1600 at best. Thoughts please.
