Is there a method that is used to solve chess puzzles?

I started playing chess ten months ago, and I know there's a lot I don't know. But I want to learn to play as well as my mind will allow me to. My question is, is there a way to look at a tactics puzzle that requires 3 or more moves to solve? When I try to solve such a combination of moves, to my untrained eye, I don't even know where to start looking. And I really do want to learn the game. Anyone have any advice to give? Thank you.

IM Danny Rensch has attempted to answer that question with a series of videos showing how he solves puzzles.  I'll try to find a link.  Found 3 pages of Danny demonstrating and going over various tactical motifs.  Bound to be something in there for you.  If you really like the tactical motif lessons, you might want to check out some of the tactics courses on the Chess Mentor.  GM Patrick Wolff must have a dozen or so ranging from fairly basic (forks and pins) to advanced (interference, deflection).  You can never get enough practice on tactical patterns.
