Is there a physical Chess board app?
I’m looking for exactly the same thing. To be used with paper chess book scenarios/lessons/puzzles. Rather than get out my portable chess set, and set up the pieces as they are pictured in the paper book, to solve the problem, I would like to be able to do that with my smart phone or tablet. easier than messing with the physical chess pieces. But I would need to be able to place pieces on the board as they are pictured in the text book, and go from there. There’s a need for such an app. Bookstores are filled with chess books by grandmasters that are worth reading and studying.
all of the apps I see with Apple, are way way way too complicated for my purposes. presently I’m stuck using the little wooden board with the little wooden pieces to set up the problems in the textbook. Thanks all. Blessings!
This is the best option https://logiqboard.com/ . You can send a link to your friend and you both have full control over the board. There's actually no logic or engine. If you want to analyze a position with just pawns theres a way to trap both kings in the corner using weird pawn blockades. The engine can then evaluate the position because it understands that promoting will lead to checkmate, it's not impossible or ridiculous like everyone else is saying.
Man, I need it too. It's not so absurd. Let's say I want to practice and observe some configurations on a real board. Ok. But what if I want to try some checkmates I've learnt from a book on my school interval? Let's suppose I am just learning how to play chess Bobby Fischer's book. The book shows me some configurations of checkmate and I want to try without actually carrying a physical chess board. For god sake, we have smartphones, but we don't have a simple chess board simulator for download.
