I think the answer is yes and that it can make things more interesting and fun.
Obviously, there are lines that should not be crossed.
What are your best lines or experience/s?
Myself and a couple of others work with kids each friday. One day this kid shows up with his parents, and immediately asks "Who is the best player here?" I pointed out the kid he was looking for. They sat down to play, and the cocky kid says "Prepare to lose" About 15 moves later, the cocky kid loses, he and his parents leave, and they havent been back since. The kid that won comes over after the game and tells me he remembered what i told him about playing the board, and not the player, smack talk, etc.
Does not even come close to fitting my definition of "trash talk." He's just insulting the other player. There is nothing witty or even good natured about "prepare to lose."
So what is your definition of trash talk?
What I'm hearing is that it's ok to talk trash as long as it's not trash you're talking.
I wonder how many of these are also offended by bat flips.
