Could anyone tell me how you have to change your club theme in v3?

Don't think it is possible. The only theme you can change is your personal theme.

In my club Chess Team Holland there is a flag of south africa as background. I wonder if that's a bug or that i have to wait until chess.com allowes me to change the theme.

What does V3 have to do with it?

Have the Super Admins of your group tried to change it?  You are an admin, and have less powers than the super admins.

Because I can change it in v2.

But probably it's only for SA's in v3.

That's not a bug, that's a Boer. Laughing

If you start scrolling here, you'll see one of the problems with V3

According to Erik, V3 will no longer support the imbedding of photos into text. You'll have to link to a photo on another site, so a representation of that image will show here. Unfortunately, as you can see from the two images inserted this way by trysts, the off-site host of a couple of her images no longer supports those images or no longer exist. So text becomes incomprehensible. Erik poo-poohed the idea that this was a big problem in the other V3 thread, but I still don't buy it.

Maybe I'm not looking closely enough but I don't see a problem with trysts' images.  Is the off-site host she is using imgur?  That's supposed to pretty reliable, and is used extensively by reddit.com (and reddit.com/r/chess)

The new version looks like it was layed out by some Apple fan boys.

You nailed it.  One of their goals was to have the browser and mobile apps look, feel, and work as much alike as possible.  Love the improvements, but hate the look.  Of course I hated V2 when it came out too...

Just keep those subscription renewals coming.  v3 is totally coming someday.

At this point it's just about the name.  We all have access to it, premium and regular alike, so who cares when they make an official announcement.  I hope it never comes so we continue to have access to both versions.  Those lurid colors and touchscreen friendly design elements leave me cold, so as soon as I'm through with the Tactics Trainer, or maybe playing a quick game of 960 against the computer,  I scurry back home to V2.

I honestly don't switch back to V2 at all now. Zero. It just seems so antiquated and outdated compared to V3 and every other chess server out there. Well, it doesn't seem that way - it is that way.

DrSpudnik

Really? I've never gone to V3. I've never heard a good reason to.

The tactics trainer is better. It counts up not down now so you can't gauge the complexity of the problem based on the timer. It's much better than it was before for training. The graphics are cleaner, crisper, and sharper. Just better colors and visuals. It no longer uses Java which is a necessary change due to the current browser/java debacle. Video quality also seems enhanced. The computer review engine is vastly overhauled and improved and although I have my own engine and Fritz, for someone who doesn't have all of that - it's a greatly helpful analysis tool. A lot of people will love it.

Lastly, the interfaces - once you get used to them - are far more intuitive and quicker/easier to navigate. Basically, it's just overall progressive and I'm happy with it's direction. You should give it a try.

Is it just me or is V3 quite a bit slower?

It unfortunately is, though not everywhere, it shouldn't feel quite slower. We do have some pages that still might feel slower.

v3 should, hopefully, feel usable overall, though we are aware there are still some parts that need to be better. If a page feels very slow, feel free to report it with the bug icon. We've made great strides as far as getting v3 faster and continue working on it, but it's one of the last steps of the launch that we're heavily working on right now, along with cleaning up any pending bugs that you guys have been reporting (and a big big thank you for that!).

We still have a bit more work to go to make the site even faster, and it's one of our top priorities. We are all as excited about getting the new version ready to launch, but want to make sure when we do, the experience of using the new version is the best it can possibly be.

+1 @ajessu

Thanks, ajessu. Mostly I'm pretty happy with it, the new format takes some getting used to but I think I'm going to like it more than V2 once I know my way around.

TheronG12

I'd like to report a bug though, namely that the "Report a bug" button doesn't work.

@TheronG12 private messaged you, as I can't reproduce not being able to report a bug. Maybe it's on a specific page, feel free to reply me there or report it on a different page where it's working.
