Darn, I didn't think this was a superking thread because superking rarely ever puts a question mark behind his questions. Looks like I was wrong.

Betteridge's law of headlines: whenever there is a question mark at the end of a headline, the answer is no.

GIGA100

wesley is now world no. 12.

Comrade_Jackal

I like So's progress anyways, I think he will be up there one day.

Carlsen broke 2800 at 18 yrs and 11 months. No one beats that.

being there first is not a guarantee of greatness some can be late bloomers i believe

Wesley So's standing improved a lot. I think there is a chance in the near future.

Superqueen500

In a serious 10 game match Carlsen wrecks him 7-3

No,

Magnus is a special talent like Morphy, Capablanca,Fischer,Alekhine.

Players like that are the musical equiviliant of Bach, Mozart,Beethoven, Chopin, Tchaikovsky,Haydan one of a kind.

Wait, so six people are one of a kind?

So, back to the question.

I think Carlsen would win.

Wesley is now world # 10. In a span of 3 months he jumped from #12.

you people stray too much from reality. Before you even surmise that Wesley So can beat Carlsen in a match play - see and think. Wesley needs to get to a respectable ELO rating before he can handle Carlsen. That's just the way things go in chess - maturity at the game is a requisite to greatness.Just because Wesley became a GM at 4 years old doesn't mean he can lick anyone. I am amazed at how some of you can outrightly declare that So is better than Carlsen - lacks common sense IMO.

I like him.  It will be nice for him to take over the US #1 spot from Nakamura.  So is, by all accounts, a nice and humble man.  Just the type of person that should be representing us to the world.

He's also better looking than Carlsen, so he'd make a much better champion for that reason alone.  He probably needs to get on the top-level tournament circuit soon if he wants to have any chance at being a real contender.  I assume he's waiting until he completes college.

I have to give credit to the OP, your bizarre title made me click on this thread.

What type of a person is Nakamura, then? A barbarian? (http://www.chesspersonality.com/type/barbarian)

Wesley Snipes wins this.

No. Right now, Carlsen will defeat him in a match. If Wesley wins Tata Steel or a major tournament ahead of Carlsen, Kramnik, Anand, Aronian and Caruana, then I would say he can beat Carlsen in a match and become world champion. But his goal of reaching 2800 is possible. I like the fact that he continues to play in open tournaments because it shows that he is not afraid to lose elo points.
