It IS possible to checkmate with two knights

Yeah, 1. Kf6 Kd8 2. Kf7, and the bish isn't really needed.

A checkmate with only two knights cannot be forced, because in order to get into mating position, it will actually be stalemate before you can deliver the mate. However, if the losing side has a king and an extra pawn that has moves, then it would not be stalemate and a two knight checkmate can actually be forced

Doesn't have to be just a pawn. This is also a forced win for White

White to play and win.

I know, but I meant you need at least a pawn or another piece for black. Only two knights vs one king will not force checkmate.

Yes I knew what you meant. I just thought the puzzle was interesting. Give it a try.

Without the bishop 1. e7? is a draw.

I understand then. Also, good puzzle

theres the proof if you dont belive me

No one who knows what they are talking about says it is impossible. They say it is impossible to be forced unless the opponent has a king and a pawn that is not past the Troisky Line.

Without the bishop 1. e7? is a draw.

Without the bishop White plays as in post #54.

With the bishop Black can simply wander off instead of playing his king to e8, when it's a moot point whether the bishop makes mate any easier.

No one who knows what they are talking about says that either.

Yes.

"YOU CAN DO IT?" "HERE IT IS IF YOU DON"T BELIEVE ME?"

Who said you can't... it's not not forced since the opponent doesn't have to corner himself.

A two knight attack can be lethal if done right.

Is the sequence in #43 not forced?

That's 2 knights... and a bishop. If not for the bishop the King simply moves to the right of the board and away from the corner.

The checkmate isn't. I've counted the pieces three times.

Obviously any mate with two knights starts off with an additional 16 pawns, two rooks, two bishops and a queen at some stage. OP mentioned only the material in the checkmate.

What about #46 then?

How much easier do you need it? Kf6 followed by Kf7, and you just push the pawn home!

Maybe a better way to put it is that a checkmating sequence (not an immediate checkmate) which begins with a king and two knights vs. a king cannot be forced.

Yes, that would be a better way to put it (and, of course, correct).

Did you think that you can mate with three pawns without promoting? I won't be surprised if you have...

123yermum321

My most accurate game and I LOST

123yermum321

I FINALLY gave a mate with two knights and two pawns.

Whoohoo!!!!
