Did you just set that up on a board or did you actually play a game into that position? It’s hard to imagine a situation where the move before wasn’t stalemate.

No one that understands the rules has said mating with two knights isn't possible, just that there is no forced mate, unless the position is already an immediate mate.

Yes, it is possible, just like it is possible to checkmate with a knight vs. bishop. Can you force mate against bishop with knight? No, (unless the position is a forced mate.) So yes you can checkmate with 2 knights but you can't force checkmate with 2 knights.

A checkmate with only two knights cannot be forced, because in order to get into mating position, it will actually be stalemate before you can deliver the mate. However, if the losing side has a king and an extra pawn that has moves, then it would not be stalemate and a two knight checkmate can actually be forced

Show me the move before that one

White king walks up the board while black king moves a8-b8. There, I showed you 6 moves before lol.

(Oh, maybe you were talking to the OP)

it can't be forced the defender has to cooperate

Avatar of AestheticPeace

yes, it is possible, but nobody will ever allow it

I suppose if someone believed that an NNK mate were impossible they could walk into it thinking that they were safe no matter what they did. Still, it would have to be a perfect storm of ignorance and luck to have it happen.
Avatar of Grimm_Stone

of course its possible. the problem is most people aren't so stupid they would walk into a corner to let him/herself get checkmated.

Avatar of NikkiLikeChikki
Nah, lots of smart people are bad chess players. Ignorance is sufficient.
