All those things you complain about Chess.com deciding for you, you can choose for yourself. If you look at Help & Support you can probably figure out how to change whatever settings you like.
It sounds like maybe what you want is to play correspondence (called Online Chess here), you can have 3 days or even 7 or 14 days to make your move if you want.
You can play any time-control you wish in live chess. Just choose the "custom" option and make up your time-control.
The "pre-move" feature is what allows players to move so fast.
Keep in mind that players are just playing better than you in any given game instead of screaming "cheater" every time you lose.
You can try lichess.com instead, sounds like you'd like it more. It's a bit different from chess.com
I play lichess.
It's about as good as Chesskid. No tournoments on lichess. I think. Anyway chess.com is the best chess website ever and I mean that.
Peace out!
Okay... why are you telling us this??
Some of the greatest threads in Chess.com history are the "goodbye" threads. If I don't see a "goodbye" thread at least every month then I just feel...incomplete
They should also start a thread about guns, evolution or climate change. I bet it would be a success!

I'll start one about guns, wait a minute :D
My preferred chess destination are chess.com and chessclub.com, although i wish chess.com had game time stamp like icc.
If I may offer a suggestion that helps me. I'm not a fan of playing with an onscreen board either. I actually tend to see much less of what I should be seeing than when I have an actual board in front of me. Plus there is something asthetically pleasing about moving nice chess pieces across a nice chess board.
What I do to make games against the computer much more enjoyable for me is to set my chess board on a small table next to the computer. I simply play the game on my chessboard, moving the opposing piece as the computer makes it's move. No rushing, squinting, etc.

Im thinking how you can somehow combine those subjetcts into one thread.
I don't know why he just doesn't switch to correspondence chess instead. That way he can sit there at his actual board using his own pieces with a 14 day move time frame if he really wants. He only has to login to see what move was made or to submit.
I've never quite understood the pity party post. Shame really. He'll be back.
To be fair I never liked computer chess. I like real chess against a human being on an actual board where I can feel the pieces. And I'm not very computer savvy, I just play online for convenience. That's why I'm giving up on chess.com. The interface is atrocious, I'm staring at a gleaming white screen until my eyes water, hunched over in pain. If there are ways to change the time/screen size and colour etc. I have no idea what those are and I'm tired of searching and wasting my time to find them. I've been using chess.com for like 5 years! I don't always want to play an incredibly fast, difficult game. I just want to veg and get a little practice in. But chess.com wants to tell me how long my game should be, who I should play, what my board should look like and what their rating should be. Those are my choices not yours. Don't even get me started on the pitiful time cheats. I feel like I'm playing at Washington square park against the hustlers. My move=my time. Guys can make 10-15 moves in a second?? I don't have the energy nor the nature to learn how to cheat so I can compete and the longer the game the more pain to my eyes and body. There seems to be no unlimited time control, of course if I did that there would still be cheats. I'm leaving chess.com permanently. You need a total overhaul in my books. Buh-bye.
