Yes, I have had two passports and have extensively travelled all over the world, except for Africa, Central Asia, and India.  My passport expired last year and I incinerated it.

EscherehcsE

Just give the USCF your NSA file number. That should be enough. Laughing

johnmusacha

Yes but I can only use it when certain tellers are on duty.

Scottrf

Well that's reason enough. Why inconvenience yourself for some imaginary 'sticking it to the man'?

johnmusacha

I have my old college ID.

MrDamonSmith

Nobody needs ID to vote so it shouldn't be required for anything. You should be fine without it.

see post 29...

What does post #29 have to do with the right to vote?

MrDamonSmith

I was just saying that ID isn't needed anymore. Voting is one of the most important things in this country & if it isn't needed for that then it's ok not to have any at all. Everyone should just get along fine without it, people should just believe you are who you say you are. Especially for something like chess. It was an example.

johnmusacha

Identification requirements for voting are decided by the individual states.

MrDamonSmith

Post #35: I didn't know that. What was with all the commercials during the last election telling people they didn't need ID to vote? Then telling them to go vote early & often.

What does any of this have to do with the original question? He doesn't want ID, whatever the reasons. He just wants to know if that would be an issue with OTB tournament participation. Best call/ write the USCF and inquire.

MrDamonSmith

No, it shouldn't be an issue. Unless, of course, he wins over a certain amount like what was said earlier.

Kronsteeen

Tough situation

Kronsteeen

Its nice that you have a few that are empathetic.

Johnny;  you can't get access to your money unless certain tellers are on duty at the bank???

I'm sure he can join without I.D.,but he would need I.D. to collect any prize.

He would have a birth certificate/SS number which is enough to collect on any prize money (unless rules have changed).

Yes but I usually keep enough money at home to cover anything I want to do.

I think the rule that ID is necessary for $600 prize is ridiculous (not that I'm going to be winning anything.)  Since when is $600 a traceable amount of money worth caring about?  I thought any sums under $10,000 cash were still considered below the radar.

RonaldJosephCote

I'm no expert on money, but for tax reasons, the USCF has to account for all their prizes. Just in case someone comes back later and says, I didn't win that from the USCF.
