It's not so much a "button" as just a clickable line that says, "Key Squares". Check this photo (arrow added for clarity's sake).
key squares button?
same problem in chess.com version 2 - nor is there a try again button - forces the end of each lesson??
i'm on a desk top running windows 10 the field of options shown by canonical knight isn't visible on the screen I'm still using the default board. is there a "training" board option I've never heard of?
you need to change the screen options to activate "show legal moves" then when you slect the piece it shows all the legal places you can move. Show legal moves should be the default setting especially for beginners! if I hadn't already paid for a membership upgrade I'd probably never come back after failing multiple training sessions because it was impossible to do what I was told to do
"Show legal moves" is not the same as the "key squares". I think that's just gone in v3 and nobody at chess.com seems to bother to put it back in.
Wow this is bad, the very first lesson on the site doesn't even work.
There is no "KEY SQUARES" button.
Why would I pay $99 for something this sloppy.
Sigh... Pressing the square with the piece is NOT the same. This shows the squares that the piece can move to, which is NOT the same as pressing the "Key squares" button, which shows you the most important square in the position.
Unfortunately, this button was lost when they "facelifted" the chess.com site. When you go back to the old page style (just press "Old Site" somewhere on the left...), you can get the button back (but therefore you have the old layout, which didn't look so nice as the new one, but therefore was often easier to use and had more features, like e.g. the "Key squares" button.)
Pressing the square with the piece just highlights that square.
I came here to learn chess, prepared to pay, but since the site fails at the very first hurdle I'm looking elsewhere.
The app tells me to click the key squares button. Where is it??
