and he plays stockfish on phone and ipad, not pc. so i don't know when u say depth. i know strength setting can be adjusted 1-20.

He didn't specify WHAT stockfish he beat. I can wreck stockfish at a sufficiently low depth and reliably.

sorry guys if this post caused some annoyance... at least i got the answer i was looking for. thanks for that. so i'll just have him play whenever there's a chance and see if he continues to maintain interest. probably in a week he'll have his attention with playstation. who knows. probably he was just lucky when he won vs stockfish. i asked him to play again, he got 2 losses and 1 win. i guess that's just it with chess. u win some, u lose some. i agree that it's still best to play with other people. thank you all for your time posting. i hope he can play with all of you. i wish i can give u more info on that stockfish win but i don't play it so i don't know what else to tell u. i just put the setting to strength 20 and that's the info i posted here. i'll let u know if i know more. peace!
