Knight and Bishop Vs. Rook

Would you rather have a knight and a bishop or a rook. I know that and knight and a bishop is 6 points, and a rook is only 5 but I want to hear your thoughts.

In opening and early middlegame knight and bishop are way much stronger than rook.

In this position “mathematically” material is even (3+3=5+1) but Stockfish skows -1,7.

In a middle game situation rooks go down in value and knights go up in value. B+ K is much stronger than a rook.

In an endgame it's much closer.

In that position black is ahead several tempi in development. Moreover white has 2 undeveloped rooks, but no open file to make good use of them.

Of course, but some of my students used to do that and i was crazy. I had to show them engine eval otherwise they wouldńt believe me.

It's a common theme in 1. e4 openings that either side can have the option to trade a knight+bishop for a rook+f pawn (f2 or f7). The conventional wisdom is that it's bad to initiate this trade
