Knight-king vs bishop-king why tie?

Sort:
JCapanegra

Thats!

I know knight and king vs king alone could not end in checkmate, but if there is a bishop instead of the king alone, checkmate is possible:

White king in A1; white bishop in B1; black king in A3; black knight in C5 the blacks moves knihgt to B3 ++

So why the GUI here considered a tie when I reach this situation with time in both clocks?

Thanks.

Because the mate can't be forced.
JCapanegra

This is the rule? !

Who saids that in fact no chess game can be forced to end in checkmate, you always need the help of your opponent!! :-D

Thanks!

I can force mate with a rook. But not with a single minor.

The same principle can be said with a king and 2 knights vs king alone, its not possible because you cant force a checkmate.
