When Miguel Najdorf played Black against Bobby Fischer in the Siegen Olympiad in 1970, Najdorf didn't play his eponymous variation... he played the Kan instead.
It was referred to as "Najdorf's night off from the Najdorf".
Wow thanks! I know Google is my friend but in this case I couldn't figure it out. Time for me to check out Najdorf's games.
I listened to a podcast on Chess and the person kept referring to knight orf or night ord. I couldn't really understand. What does it mean and how is it spelled? Thanks!
