Knight vs. Rook. Draw?

So I'm playing this coorespondence game, and all that is left are a knight and king vs. a rook and king. As all pieces are loose, the position is a draw. Yet, my opponent will NOT agree to one. So what am I to do? Play out 50 moves? What a hassle.

yeah he has nothing to lose, i guess. play it out glhf

Try to take it sufficiently seriously so that you do not make a mistake.

What he said.

Anyway, if I had the rook, I'd play on for at least a while to check out my opponent's technique. You'll be surprised what fairly strong players sometimes dont know

Nope, OP has the knight.

It just seems a bit silly because I have my king and knight in the center of the board and his rook just hops about with his king moving once and a while. As long as I don't make a fairly obvious mistake, the position is a draw.

I would try to make him block with the knight... And then take it and you can claim a draw without anything from your opponent... You might want to block him form your notes though.Innocent

Yes, the game is still in progress, which is why I am a bit frustrated with my opponent's unwillingness to accept a draw. I have the knight, so I can not force a draw by any means other than the 50 move rule.

The main issue is that earlier in the game, my opponent had a winning position. I was about to resign. But I played on to see what would happen. And my opponent allowed me to reach a drawn position. He messaged me in the chat saying that I should resign because he had a won position. Seems a bit silly. And now he is making me play on for 50 moves to punish me. Yikes.

Don't Worry, if you draw in 0 moves, or if you draw in 50, it is still a draw. But still be careful. Wink

Therefore it shall not be discussed in the forums.

Exactly you are a cheater. It is not a draw in all cases and you will most likely blunder if you are asking this question.

macer75

In b4 the lock.

This game needs a scorekeeper.

I never would have posted the game, nor did I ask anyone to look it up. I was speaking rhetorically when I asked if rook vs. knight is a draw. In THIS case it IS a draw because my king and knight are attached in the center of the board and his rook and king are doing nothing. All other material is exhausted. I was speaking generally about a type of drawn endgame. That is not cheating by any means. I was only sharing my frustration. I obviously was not asking for help in any way. I was simply hoping to share my frustration with others who might have experienced something similar. I don't think that makes me a cheater.

? What do u mean?

Only way to get a draw there is by three fold repetition or the 50-move rule. If he does nothing and is non-constructive, this should be easy to play.

It shows you are on move 57, while the last capture was on move 54...Kxh6.
