@Champ_welller Kramnik beat Kasparov because he was able to get Kasparov into positions that minimized Kasparov's strengths and maximized Kramniks -- and he's used the same strategy ever since.

All players have an opponent they do much worse against and in Kasparov's case it was Kramnik. Maybe it was partly a psychological thing, Kramnik was Kasparov's second in 1995 and Kasparov himself had said that Kramnik would be his successor. Then he picked him for his opponent in 2000 instead of Shirov who had won the Candidates against Kramnik. In qualifications against other players Kramnik was never successful, but he certainly always played well against Kasparov.

After 2000 Kramnik has played matches against Leko, Topalov, Anand, Radjabov, Grischuk and Aronian, and this far five were drawn before rapid/blitz, while the sixth was a loss. His latest matches before 2000 were the losses against Shirov, Kamsky and Gelfand, so the win against Kasparov is the more surprising considering his match results against other players.

I'm on the edge of my seat.

Aronian managed to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat.

Anyway... It's nice to see the cameraderie and good sportsmanship between this two gentlemen giants of chess.
