I'd guess they have lag problems because they're so popular. More people = more strain on servers.

I like the term in the title...."stealmate"

 

Should apply to a game where despite being well down on material you manage to sneakily mate your opponent when he is not looking.

The OP's problem had nothing at all to do with lag.

 

It was mis-reading the board, seeing the two pawns connected and thinking one was protected when it wasn't (or something like that). I know I've overlooked moves like that before, especially in endgames, where I have a duh moment and forget which way the pawns are moving meh.png
