It has been explained to me, but I still don't get it. The whole basis of speed chess at times 3.0, 5.0 and 3 + 2s is being completely undermined by having the last 5 sec snatched away from the player with the move 'because the server'. It's completely artificial because no chess clock would ever behave in this way. Please revisit this bizarre and unnatural decision.
Check your WiFi with Speedtest. If it is <5 Mbps upload speed, then your WiFi is very bad, and that is the cause. If not, then the servers can cause it. Servers aren't magicians with zero ping, they have a response time, which varies from 0.01 second to 10 seconds or more.
Yeah it has happened to me too. I initially thought my opponent had manipulated the clock, but then I read other threads about this. My Wi-Fi isn’t always booming but I always feel like something is up even when I see it is disconnecting right after I had a strong signal. Usually, I am able to fix it, but the 5 second thing needs to be fixed somehow.
