Leaving the game

Sort:

I was playing a bullet game but then my mom told me to do her a favor. I agreed and after I did the thing she wanted me to do, I went back to live chess to play another bullet game and saw that in the chat after I had lost on time, the guy said he was reporting me. He might have thought I have quit on purpose but I didn't. Please help me. The guy was https://www.chess.com/member/tykkipeli. Thank You.

Thanks needycinema but I wish a chess.com staff would see this.

leaving a game for an emergency should be justified

problem is where is the evidence?

and so probably a set number of times of it happening either in totality or within a certain time frame would need to be constructed.

it only happened once though

I wouldn't worry about it; even if they did report you, then chess.com staff still looks into it. If it really is just a rare isolated case or two (especially timeout in bullet), then I'm sure it won't really impact you. Moderators correctly take action against players who habitually play unfairly or unsportsmanlike.

p.s. Bruh. Seriously? Reporting for time out in bullet? I mean, I know many bullet players are impatient, but come on. They should just wait a few seconds for the game to end and gladly accept the rating points and then go onto their next game lol. Even if they did report you, then they are wasting more time to file a report than the entire game probably took xD

Well it wasn't exactly timing out, I had 40 seconds and I had to go somewhere.

Losing on time, in a game, is called "timing out" (or getting "flagged" on time). Even if they had to wait a full 40 seconds - like really - boo hoo. It is your clock and you are entitled to use all of your time as you see fit. If you timeout for an innocent reason, then they should happily accept their rating points and go on with their life.

I could understand their point of view if the game was a much longer time control game, but bullet chess? Come on. I have little to no sympathy for them having to wait literally only seconds.

I can't picture you getting banned for it. Repeat offenders will often have their account restricted.
