Level 6 Computer

So I'm a somewhat new Chess player. That is to say, I've known the basics since I was a kid, but didn't play much until recently. I've learned a lot about the game in the last few weeks, and can wipe the floor with all the computers up to level 5. Here being where my problem lies, at level six, I just am completely at a loss. I don't know what the deal is! lol. Anybody else have a similar problem? It doesn't matter how slowly and coordinated I try to play with the level six computer, it just destroys be every time, sometimes within just the first few moves. It's so frustrating!

It ramps up a lot at that level, I think it's pretty typical with most chess computer softwares. They are easy at lower levels and then there a huge jump because the computer is calculating deeper

It seems that way. It just sucks. I really liked the progression it used at first, it was slow enough, but also added just enough challenge to each level, and then it just feels unbeatable (At least for me) Haha

If I was you I would go over all my games and try to understand how you lost. And use the computer analysis tools to help after your first analysis. You'll start to see yourself making more accurate moves and better yourself until eventually you can beat it. Also take a lot of time and think about each move your making and why.

I'd like to know what logic a computer uses in choosing moves?

Pretty much it's inhibited to a certain extent. it'll generally make the best moves it can, but it's programmed to make intentional blunders. At least from my understanding.

I just had this game against Computer Level 6 after getting beat the first two times. My solution? Just slowing down. I cant believe some of the moves it made, I don't think I played really all that well. Sometimes it just faults I guess, keep at it youll beat it eventually with practice

Level 6 is much stronger on a regular computer than on my cell phone.

For me, I can beat level 5 on my computer if I focus, though it teaches me. Level 6 is much stronger.

Level 5 and below will fail to do take backs. Even level 7 on my phone will fail to recapture material, changing its position from winning to losing.

On move 15, it hung its queen (and you gave it yours for a bishop), and on move 25, it hung its rook. That must be level 6 on smart phone.

Yeah I was playing on my smart phone, wait is there a difference? I was also shocked by those moves, When they took with the Queen I was like "Oh man I totally dropped a pawn" and then it just like brain farted on me for some reason.

I own a music school. Just like every else here I struggle on trying to beat level 6. I have a piano teacher working for me who is a chess master. I asked him to play it for me and he beat it like it was level one. He suggested that we do more pins, use the knights to fork higher level pieces.
