Little Chess Partner - Level Hard

I'm curious how you as a community have fared against the 'hard' level of Little Chess Partner (the automated chess game). Several months ago I beat medium and since have not been able to beat hard. Any suggestions, for those of you who have beaten 'hard'? If there is some secret glitch in the game, I don't want to know about it. I'm just curious what your approach was, etc., really anything. I will feel so much better once I give hard a few good matchups haha. Thanks!

I've managed to "draw" against it, I say "draw" because the threefold repetiton doesn't actually work but technically it would be a draw if there wasn't a fault in the program.

The best way i've found in beating it, is just to trade at every opportunity possible that doesn't cause a weakness in your position.

Against easy an medium i can usually beat it in the end game, i've not done so against hard yet.

another suggested way that i read to beat a computer is NOT to trade, this means that it has loads of variations to consider and will no doubt make a mistake, unfortuanatly with this way i also tend to make mistakes.

Hard? I can barely beat easy as it is!

Too easy.

this is how to beat it as white. soon il post how to beat him as black.

I can generally beat it, although I stopped playing it because I found its style to not be very instructive.

Now the most important thing to know about beating littlechesspartner:

DO NOT TRY TO MATCH HIS SPEED

You can spend a minute or 2 on a move, never spend a few seconds like LCP does.

Thank you! I'll give the trade-offs a shot.

Yeah chess programs have inherent love of trades. material for material, usually you can even cost them position.

This is why deep blue was so good it was the first chess program to get past this.

MsCloyescapade

play the grob!!!

lilchesspartner never deals with it the same way.

fun positions a nd an easy win if you trade well...

queenofdeath

to beat little chess partner 8 or 9 out of 10 times....  this is how I trained to do so.... ( ON HARD ) ... YOU OPEN... till you blunder...  I would do this for 100 times a day sometimes.... I play BLITZ speed as well... slowing down for the end game...  I played a player in blitz who was around 1900 rating and won most

the games and all I played was little chess partner-blitz stlye on hard...

I think you just have to get over the learning curve of OPENINGS iF you open

correctly he will show his belly somewhere but you must open for a chance to

win... if he get's ahead it's hard to get that advantage back... plays trade off,

and hide the king flawlessly once AHEAD in materail... I suggest as well...

www.chessgames.com they have a data base of games and openings to study...

again if you play 2000 to 3000 short half games till you loose the advantage

after 2 months of this you will begin to see his forks, pins, how he get's a pawn ahead and shut it down... there are very few opens for what that keep him

for a high percentage down in material and playing black in a nightmare...

I follow fisher and while playing black do a form of indian opening fast to

get castled... also I can play my winning white opening but I got in the habbit

of playing white against the machine so --- black will be the next hurdle...

as well fritz and advanced, modern chess programs that are higher rated

are next...  hope this helped the guy who posted this...
