what do you expect, people cheat on live chess WAY more than on correspondence
live chess vs. correspondence chess

honestly wouldn't it be more likely for some one to cheat while playing correspondence... Where'd you get that "fact".. ? Or are you just one of those people that state personal opinion as fact?

are you just one of those people that state personal opinion as fact?
You mean like "Wouldn't it be more likely for someone to cheat while playing correspoondence..." ?

Just a theory with no evidence but I think that the type of person who enjoys namecalling and insulting others probably more often than not lacks the patience required for online chess.

you expect cheaters to be more polite, or people who don't cheat to be more polite?
We are not talking about cheaters here. I just remember seeing a ton of threads where a person complained that someone was rude in chat in live chess (this has happened to me). I've noticed that in Onlince Chess, people are much more polite. MY question is, is this a coincidence?

The only negative experience I've EVER had is in correspondence chess. It was just one time, so not enough to say one way or the other.
I don't understand all this concern about cheating. If someone with my rating is using a computer to cheat, that person needs to upgrade and get a better chess program. Maybe Nakamura suspects that he is occassionally losing to Stockfish or Houdini rather than a human, but that is not a concern of mine.

It's already been said, but the kind of people who are rude and call names typically do not have the patience for correspondence chess, which is why correspondense has more polite.

actually,strictly speaking in correspondance chess.... game play seems slower than molasses in january and i am not feeling that there's much communication;
if you mean, turn based chess "ONLINE" chess, yes people are much more polite. I think its because we really want to play good games of chess and really Learn to play better. playing for some kind of cheap trap is less -when the other side has 3 days to think about it (and an analysis board to work it all out).
Is it a coincidence that that people seem to be "nicer" on Online Chess than on Live Chess? If not, then why?
