The USCF website (uschess.org) should have them listed somewhere. "G/60" etc means "game in 60 min" for each side; "3-SS" means a three rounds Swiss system. "30/90 SD1" means thirty moves in ninety minutes, then the rest in an hour.

I have never played in a OTB tournament. What do all the numbers mean when it is time to register? I was thinking of going to Atlanta to play some live chess but was confused by the numbers. I think G/60 means you have 60 minutes to finish the game, but there is no time limit on moves. But what does G/30 tournament 3-SS mean, or $25 reentry fee. If you lose in an early round can you buy your way back in? I have seen other notations such as 30/90 SD/1. Please help. Is there a table somewhere that shows what all these abbrivations are?
