local network chess

I want to play chess with my friend sitting side by side from our android phones. is there any such app that allows this without using internet?

It is called chessboard and pieces. Google that. Really cool stuff.

dear molo. thanks for the suggestion. however, the inconvenience is that we have to hand over the phone after every move. anyway, I have found an app that serves my purpose excellently  using bluetooth or wifi.

If this app is installed on two phones, a game can be played between those two phone users through bluetooth or wifi. Games can be saved at any stage. This is excellent app. You can also play online using this app. And online games are automatically saved to your phone memory as a pgn file. You have this app means you have always a chess board with you which you can play any time.

Hi I am looking for the same, I am traveling on the train and we are in faraway seats to play with a board, however close enough for Bluetooth connectivity. However we have both android and iphone and need an app that will allow us to play in flight. Any ideas?
