Long chess will kill chess

sometime around December 1st I decided to take a break from playing. I stopped starting daily games and I planned on taking a 1 or two week break once I destroyed all my opponents. Well here it is a MONTH later and I still have a few games going, and I really did not destroy any body. I love chess but this commitment is absurd. I foresee people leaving chess if they have to commit so much time to a simple board game.

Chess may not be for you then.

Are you guys agreeing with me?

Like i said, you just dont have the patience for it.  But that doesnt mean its going away.  Stick with bullet/blitz.

So my attention span must be years?

If you want to play correspondence style, then yes, that can be required.

If you don't like the time commitment, play shorter days/move games and you would be better off with no-vacation tourneys (unless the site ever implements no-vacation challenges). Even 1 day per move games with no-vacation can take a while.

Another option is to find a group of people that always play fast. Or, stick with Live. wink.png

That's right. The game has been played for a thousand freaking years, but you've decided it's a waste of time, so now it's going to be abandoned.

Nice going.

Long chess is the real chess (more than blitz and bullet). It has been around for centuries and it will stay forever so no worries for anyone leaving

Let's face it..you just can't stay away.

In my opinion chess is being destroyed by players who are bad or unpleasant people outside of the chess board. I am convinced not of this because of the huge number of sexist misogynist comments every time someone talks about women players, political correctness, or political issues in general.

Thank you for proving beyond doubt that you are a troll. Now I can have a clear conscience about ignoring any contributions you make to the forums.
