Longest Checkmate
19. ... Qh3 would have checkmated.
Instead of getting 3 queens, maybe you should work on a king + queen checkmate. It's not that hard to do.
That was already mentioned, but it's not the only spot where checkmate was missed. the OP made this game unnecessarily long.
what ever. i really wasn't asking for advice. i was wondering what other people's longest checkmate ever was
There was at least one missed mate-in-2 opportunity there, too, but since the OP isn't interested I won't mention it.
I'm not saying I never missed a mate-in-one before but in order to get better at chess one should learn the quickest way to checkmate, that way they're not drawing games due to stalemate because they think they need three or four queens to get a checkmate. If you have a king and a queen against a lone king, you can get a checkmate.
well, i also wanted to keep continuing on the game because it was with my sister and she doesn't play chess with me very often.
Another missed mate in 2: 29. ... Qc2 30. Kf1 Qf2#.
Personally my longest game was around 73 moves or so, but fortunately not due to any missed mates. That game wore me out.
I had a game over 110 moves long at a tournament last year. It ended up being a draw, but it felt good having over 100 people staring at a game I was playing.
This is not really a long "checkmate". This is a long endgame maybe - at least compared to what it should have been.
You would not say all is part of a planned sequence of forced moves.
As for the game, I went above 200 moves (don't remember exactly by how many). Yeah, that was a pain... You know, the kind of rook + pawns endgames that finally ends as a pawn endgame that finally ends as a queen + pawns endgame... All that to conclude with a draw.
