Here is my tip: Do not play chess when you do not feel like it. Wait until you are really rested, confident, and hungry to win. Playing when you are just bored or have nothing else to do will lead you into developing bad habits and weakness. Be sharp or do not play. Go for a walk instead or meditate or whatever. Also, be in the present. Forget prior losses or wins...see the game freshly and look at each move as a new opportunity. I have played for forty years and still alert to innovations and moves I would not have imagined alone. Keep the fun of play foremost and do not despair.

It feels when I win two or three games in a row, I will uncomprehensingly go onto lose 4,5,6 games in a row! I just got done playing two really good games against the philidor when my opponent brings his queen out to soon. I make the right moves, and then fail to recapture, or make a critical move twice (in a row against the same person!) by a mouse slip lol. I was really angry, but the kicker is the person went on to taunt me, and refused to rematch. The 2 games I lost, mostly blunders.
This is really frustrating, as I try to improve, get above 1200 and then get my butt kicked back down to 1100+.
I am currently reading Logical Chess Move by Move, and start My System:21st century edition.
I can sometimes get good positional advantages, like a strong pawn center, while the opponent has moved a ton of pawns, but I don't know how to move forward and convert the win. I haven't studied the opening much, but the book I mentioned has put me on a 1.d4 kick. I play different things mostly Ruy, Two Knights, Sicilian, and Indian style defenses. I am not sure what type of player I am...so any help or pointers from you stronger players who have been where I am at?
